Summit Credit Union employees “DoMore” this summer
BY THE NUMBERS
23,000
Throughout the summer, members of the Summit Credit
Union’s “DoMore” Team delivered random acts of kindness throughout the Madison area. In September, the team expressed kindness in the form of flowers — 55 bouquets in all — to shoppers at the Dane County Farmer’s Market. Earlier in the morning, 50 umbrellas were also provided to strollers during a brief rain spell. The initiative was developed by the credit union in June 2010 in order to give back to the community in a new and unique way, showcase the credit union difference and enhance the Summit Credit Union brand. “There are a million ways we can help others and build goodwill with just one good deed,” says Rebecca Gerothanas, senior vice president, marketing at Summit Credit Union. “We’re excited to see the impact the DoMore Team has already made in our communities — one kind and spontaneous act at a time.” Summit’s first Do-Good Summit took place at Capitol View Triathlon in June, where the DoMore Team handed out cowbells to spectators to help cheer on participants and also randomly chose a finisher who received complimentary VIP treatment. In July, the team moved to the 17th annual Salvation Army “Christmas in July” event at the HyVee grocery in Madison, where the DoMore Team handed out money to folks to fill the red kettles which support the local Salvation Army meal program and food pantry. Additionally, the Summit DoMore Team has conducted spontaneous, randomacts-of-kindness efforts throughout the summer, including: Delivering fresh produce to The River Food Pantry in Madison Delivering a box of goodies to a woman undergoing chemotherapy Paying for citizens’ parking in downtown Madison Handing out coupons for free pizza to UW-Madison students on Campus Move-Out Day This month, the DoMore Team will be out at the Haunted Hustle Marathon at Greenway Station in Middleton. Community members may also become a “fan” at Facebook.com/SummitDoMore, or “follow” Summit at Twitter.com/ SummitDoMore to receive more details and event updates as well as share ideas for future “DoMore” summits.

Joe Sweeney’s magic networking formula: 5/10/15
Master networker Joe Sweeney, managing
director of Milwaukee’s Corporate Financial Advisors and author of the new book, Networking is a Contact Sport, says that successful networking boils down to a simple, tangible formula: 5 meetings or encounters a day with people; 10 letters or pieces of correspondence a day on corporate or personal stationery (e-mail counts, e-blasts do not), every single day; 15 phone calls a day, minimum. He should know. It was networking that brought him a round of golf at Menasha’s North Shore Country Club and an auspicious question from the man who was to become his first sports marketing client: “So do you think you can get me some business deals?” Sweeney certainly did, taking Brett Favre’s annual off-the-field income from $65,000 to $4 million.CRW
